Membrane and ionic Filtration

What is meant by Membrane and ionic Filtration?

Membrane Filtration is a water treatment process in which water is forced through a membrane that has very small holes or "pores". In a word, it is a process to make pure/ultra pure water. Membranes separate and remove dissolved solids, organic, inorganic, sub micron colloidal matter ,bacteria and viruses from water. Feed water is delivered under a pressure of approximately 2-50 kg/cm2 through membranes. Membrane filtration such as RO is capable of removing 90-99% of total dissolved solids (TDS) , Organics and Inorganic impurities.
Ionic Filtration on the other hand is resin based treatment and is based on ion exchange process of exchanging the unwanted cations or anions in water with the required ones to get the desired water quality at the output of treatment.

Reverse Osmosis (RO)

RO is the time tested ideal choice when it comes to TDS removal and applications such as drinking water , wastewater recycling and making high purity water. Its membrane pore size is approx 0.001 microns and is capable of removing monovalent ions, viruses, bacteria etc from water.

Seawater Desalination (DESAL)

DESAL has found more recent application in making potable and industrial use water from sea water at places close to sea . It is a high pressured RO system along with pre treatments that can treat high saline sea water of TDS upto 60000 ppm.

Ultra filtration (UF)

UF is approx 0.01 micron size filtration capable of removing bacteria, viruses and suspended solids from water . It can be used for drinking water applications as well as pre treatment to Reverse Osmosis.

Nanofiltration (NF)

NF is a multivalent ions removing membrane treatment usually used for selective ions separation. Its pore size is smaller than UF but bigger than RO and approx 0.001 microns.

Electrodeionisation (EDI)

EDI is a water treatment technology that utilizes electricity, ion exchange membranes and resin to deionize water and separate dissolved ions (impurities) from water. It differs from other water purification technologies in that it is done without the use of chemical treatments and is usually a polishing treatment to reverse osmosis (RO).

Water Softeners / Heavy Metals Removal / Iron Removal / Colour Removal/ BOD-COD Removal

Water softening is the removal of calcium, magnesium, and certain other metal cations in hard water. The resulting soft water can be used for various industrial processes .It also extends the lifetime of plumbing by reducing or eliminating scale build-up in pipes and fittings. Similarly we are also engaged in manufacturing of Heavy metals , BOD- COD, Colour removal Filtration systems . These systems find wide application as pre treatment in wastewater recycling system or stand alone systems for drinking water treatment, as the case may be.

Demineralisation Plants ( DM )

Demineralization is the process of removing mineral salts from Water by using the ion exchange process. Demineralised Water is Water completely free ( or almost ) of dissolved minerals. Deionization is a physical process which uses specially-manufactured ion exchange resins which provides ion exchange site for the replacement of the mineral salts in Water with Water forming H+ and OH- ions.
